Abstract

La pandemia de Enfermedad por Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) causada por el Síndrome Respiratorio Agudo Severo por Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) ha afectado a más de 150 millones de personas hasta finales de abril de 2021, y se espera que afecte a muchos más durante el próximo año. Con una tasa de mortalidad de alrededor del 2% en las personas infectadas, millones de sobrevivientes de COVID-19 quedarán con secuelas crónicas de esta enfermedad. El término COVID prolongado (LongCOVID) se ha acuñado para definir la persistencia de manifestaciones clínicas o anomalías de laboratorio que persisten más allá de la fase aguda de la enfermedad (28 días).
